No, You Cannot Listen to Music on the “i-Flow”

hyundai-i-flow-conceptThis is Hyundai’s new concept.  They try to alternately call it the HED-7, but it is a bit too little, too late for that.

Know what the concept’s real name is?

It is the i-Flow.

Yeah.  Take a moment to process that.  Goodness knows I needed about sixty of them.

This is one of the things I hate.  I know that, by and large, the automotive industry is as low and deceptive as the fashion industry.  They will say anything to get you to buy.

But just as, yes, every regular woman’s butt will look big in the newest animal print latex design from the designer flavor of the month, a lot of people will still be duped into buying a plastic outfit and an admittedly stylish but still mostly ordinary car because of its name.

The i-Flow.  Hyundai is smart.  People kill one another for iPhones.  They steal from one another if it means getting the newest iPod.  Obviously, Hyundai has learned a thing or two from the Apple phenomenon.

Ridin’ High with Citroen

citroen-ds-high-rider-conceptI do not know if I have adequately professed this before, but I am generally a fan of many European cars. Specifically, I have a soft spot for Citroen models, so you can imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a new concept, the Citroen DS High Rider.

This picture is among the very first photographs recently revealed of the concept, which will be officially unveiled at Geneva’s eightieth annual motor show. It is only the second concept design in the DS line, which is a new one for Citroen. It is classified as a compact crossover, with a design aesthetic meant to mix a coupe’s elements with a compact, smaller sort of SUV.

Better still? It has a diesel engine that works in tandem with a totally electric motor.

Honda Introduces New Concept for India Market

honda-new-small-conceptGood news is coming for the automobile market in India. Honda’s subsidiary company in India, Honda Siel Cars India Limited, is set to reveal a new concept at the auto show slated to begin in New Delhi at the beginning of the new year.

The Honda New Small Concept, as you can see, looks absolutely stunning. I am sure many of us would be happy to see it in both Europe and the United States, but c’est la vie.

The compact concept will likely make its debut in both India and Thailand in 2011. It has many design elements characteristic of Honda. Further, its theme comes from the Efficient Energetic Exterior concept.

The idea behind the small, compact car is to exceed the expectations of today’s driver, while providing a very affordable vehicle. Hear, hear!

You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Like the Guangbin Li Nian Roadster

guangbin-li-nian-roadsterSo here’s a one of a kind car for your viewing enjoyment: the Guangbin Li Nian Roadster. Now, if you are like me, you may have never heard of the Li Nian brand before. The brand is the result of a joint venture existing between well known Honda and a localized automaker called Guangzhou Auto. The Roadster, which is a concept vehicle, was unveiled at the auto show in Shanghai, although it received its first showing late in 2008, during the Guangzhou Auto Show.

It is considered solely a design study, which is meant to illustrate the direction the Li Nian brand hopes to take. The target will be young buyers — hopefully. As many reviewers have pointed out, the vehicle mimics many others created in the Chinese market, in that it lacks some refinement.

The Hummer HX Concept: Hot or Not?

hummer-hx-conceptI will be the first to admit that I just do not understand the appeal of a Hummer as a consumer vehicle. Who the hell needs a Hummer, really? Do you plan to come across enemy fire in rush hour traffic? Think you might have to go medieval on another soccer mom?

I see their aesthetic appeal, but I cringe every time a Hummer comes rolling up beside me on the highway. I always envision the driver going all Marge Simpson and suddenly crushing all the other, slow moving vehicles under his or her ginormous wheels.

That being said, this is the Hummer HX concept. What does it have? Well, it can acclimate to a variety of different trail conditions, just in case you decide to tackle the Rockies or something — or to climb up on all those minivans stopped at a light, I guess. Fits plenty of cargo needs, check. And it is supposedly ideal to deal with various “passenger whims.” Those are what scare me.

Honda SkyDeck Concept: Definitely Hot!

Honda SkyDeck Concept Honda is one of those companies that honestly – is constantly changing and updating and that is something that I absolutely love about them.  You never – ever know what to expect from Honda and that is something that rocks!  If you are familiar with Honda products – you should definitely take a look at their newest concept design, the Honda SkyDeck Concept.

This particular concept is one that I am really looking forward to.  Not only does the Honda SkyDeck Concept look extremely futuristic, but it is also one that actually seats about six people – which is huge!

Another thing that I love about the Honda SkyDeck Concept is the entire front-end as well as the windshield.  I think that this concept is going to become a reality.

The Bugatti Galibier Is Bold and Beautiful

bugatti-galibierThe Bugatti Galibier concept was presented recently at Molsheim in France. It is meant to be one of the most elegant, powerful, and exclusive cars in all the world — if not the most.

There are a lot of special factors about this vehicle — which there would have to be, of course, if it is meant to be so special (read: outrageously expensive).

It was inspired by several other vehicles and it was named, in part, after a very difficult pass found along the famed Tour de France.

It is made out of aluminum, as well as carbon fiber parts which are handmade and colored a dark blue.

Volvo S60 Sedan Concept Car – Detroit Auto show

Volvo showed the new direction they’re headed featuring Scandinavian-inspired design by displaying their concept car for the new Volvo S60 sedan Concept, which is said to be slated to hit retail 18 months from now.

The S60 sedan has redesigned interiors and exteriors, with a coupe roofline, angled headlamps, the absence of B-pillar, and according to Volvo senior vice president of design Steve Mattin, an interior that looks similar to a modern Scandinavian living room.

Volvo S60 Sedan Concept

According to Stephen Odell, CEO of Volvo Car Corp., the new look and direction of Volvo’s design is part of the company’s long-term strategy to come out with a fresh image in the US, specifically through marketing and product design. Stephen Odell said that the current image of the company is a bit bland, which is why they have to stir things up and make changes in the design and marketing.

Lean Machine: Ferrari V4 superbike concept

This may not be the first effort at creating a Ferrari motorcycle, but it may very well be the best. Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari, the departed son of company founder Enzo, was said to have raced specially-prepared motorcycles in the 1950s. In the 1970s, Kay Engineering crafted a racing bike, now said to be worth half a million dollars, with full factory backing to honor Enzo Ferrari. In the ’80s, legendary motorcycle designer Arlen Ness styled a one-off chopper on the Testarossa, while some guy named George crafted a pair of Ferrari-powered superbikes. Last year someone built a custom Scuderia Ferrari chopper for the retiring Michael Schumacher (who has since been trying his hand at motorbike racing), and earlier this year a collector crafted a model of what a Ferrari sportbike could look like. We’re sure some more will be brought to our attention in the comments below, but while some of these creations have been more convincing than others, this one has to be the slickest.
